A new step forward for traceability and recognition of Secondary Raw Materials at national and European level
Milan, 23 March 2026 – IPPR – Institute for the Promotion of Recycled Plastics – and COREPLA, the National Consortium for the Collection, Recycling and Recovery of Plastic Packaging, announce the signing of a collaboration agreement aimed at certifying recycling processes through the Plastica Seconda Vita (PSV) scheme, in compliance with EN 15343 and the main industry standards, for recyclers operating within the COREPLA system.
This activity, made possible by the latest approved revision of the Plastica Seconda Vita Certification Regulation, represents a significant evolution of the guarantee system supporting the circular economy, strengthening the traceability, transparency and reliability of plastic recycling activities.
The agreement is part of a broader pathway toward the enhancement and recognition of an accredited certification and constitutes a further step forward in the increasingly concrete integration between IPPR and COREPLA, responding to the growing need for tools capable of ensuring certain and verifiable traceability of recycling flows.
“This agreement aims to further enhance the quality and reliability of plastic packaging recycling managed by the consortium system,” says Giovanni Bellomi, General Manager of COREPLA. “Certifying processes against internationally recognised standards helps in fact to increase transparency throughout the entire supply chain and to enhance the role of recyclers, thereby fostering the development of a robust and credible market for secondary raw materials.”
“With this agreement, IPPR confirms its commitment to promoting reliable and accredited certification tools capable of meeting the needs of both the market and institutions,” said Libero Cantarella, President of IPPR. “Extending the Plastica Seconda Vita certification to recycling processes, also in compliance with EN 15343, strengthens the traceability and recognition of recycled plastics, creating value for the entire supply chain.”
The agreement between IPPR and COREPLA thus consolidates a collaborative model focused on recycling quality, regulatory certainty and the enhancement of recycled plastics, making a concrete contribution to environmental and industrial sustainability goals.
